Playing Grace from the Author: Hazel Osmond. A romantic comedy about love and learning to let go. Perfect for fans of Sarra Manning, Ellie Adams and Rosie Blake. Grace Surtees has everything carefully under control - her work life, her home life and her love life -especially her love life. But then her boss hires Tate Saunders, a brash American, to spice up the gallery tours his company provides. Messy and fond of breaking rules, Tate explodes into her tidy existence like a paintball, and Grace hates everything about him... doesn't she? Because, for Grace, the alternative would be simply too terrifying to contemplate: to love Tate rather than hate him would mean leaping out of her comfort zone, and Grace's devotion to order hides some long-kept secrets... secrets she's sure someone like Tate Saunders could never accept or understand. Discover Hazel Osmond's other novels, Who's Afraid of Mr Wolfe?, The Mysterious Miss Mayhew and The First Time I Saw Your Face.

The Grace Of Playing from the Author: Courtney T. Goto. Believers and teachers of faith regularly know the in-breaking of God's Spirit in their midst, when revelatory experiencing unexpectedly shifts habits of thinking, feeling, and doing toward more life-giving ways of being and becoming. When the moment is right, Spirit breathes new life into dry bones. Though religious educators have much practical wisdom about facilitating learning that is creative and transformative, sharper concepts, cases, and theory can help them do it more critically and assist learners to practice openness to wonder, surprise, and authenticity. The Grace of Playing explains how we can create the conditions for revelatory experiencing by understanding it in light of playing. The notion of playing "as if" can be powerfully reclaimed from ecclesial ambivalence, casual speech, and commercial interests that often lead playing to be associated with childishness, frivolity, or entertainment. This book theorizes adults playing for the sake of faith, drawing on D. W. Winnicott's psychoanalytic theory, a revision of Jurgen Moltmann's theology of play, biblical texts, medieval devotional practices, as well as art and aesthetics that help local faith communities engage in theological reflection. Communal forms of playing in/at God's new creation provide insights into pedagogies in which learners are creating and are created anew.

Classical Riqq Technique from the Author: MICHEL MERHEJ. Built around the life and teachings of master percussionist, Michel Merhej Baklouk, this book has been designed as a biographical tribute, a teaching manual, and a resource guide for anyone wishing to develop a deeper understanding of the role that percussion plays in Near Eastern Arabic music. This book differs from most technique manuals in that it includes historical information on about Arabic music as it pertains to the life and work of a single artist, Michel Merhej Baklouk. the book is composed of three parts: Introduction, Lessons, and Reference Information. Each part is written to stand on its own as well as fit with the whole so that readers can approach the book either as individual articles and lessons, or in its entirety, to be read from cover to cover. By presenting Michel's work in this way, we hope to appeal to a wider audience—percussion students at varying skill levels and from varying music disciplines and backgrounds, students of music and Middle Eastern studies, or anyone else interested in twentieth century Arab music and culture. the first part, Introduction, contains several essays about Michel's life, his teaching philosophy, pedagogical practices, musical aesthetics and performance practices. Although these sections may be read independently, they are also designed to help percussion students apply the book's lessons to their own playing and musical interpretations. the technical focus of this book is on the riqq; however, students of Arabic music (beginning through advanced) can adapt the practical exercises to gain mastery of the percussion instrument(s) of their choice. the second part, Lessons, begins with information about how to hold the percussion instrument (case in point: the riqq) and how to practice effectively. It then presents the body of exercises that Michel developed for his students. These exercises have been taken directly from Michel's notated lessons, which he developed into units corresponding to levels of proficiency, or academic years as he taught them at the Conservatory in Beirut; however, for the purposes of this book, the exercises are reorganized to correspond to subject matter and only roughly mirror Michel's conservatory sequence. Unit 1, Technique Building Exercises, is aimed at novice players or anyone who is new to reading music. Units 2 through 5 focus on specific rhythmic structures with increasing complexity. Students should master each unit of exercises before proceeding to the next unit. the third part, Reference Information, includes a notation reference, a list of rhythms, a list of further reading recommendations, and a glossary of Arabic music terms, many of which are used in the text. All Arabic words in this book appear in italics, except proper names, and with the exception of some proper Arab names, the text is essentially written in the standard system of transliteration used by the Library of Congress and most academic literature Throughout the book you will see quotations from Michel offset in the text. These prosaic tidbits may be words of wisdom, interesting anecdotes about Michel's life, or insights into his work and world of music. Each provides a glimpse into the personality of this exceptional musician. As a technical manual for students of Arabic percussion, Classical Riqq Technique provides specific exercises and explores important concepts—some of which are rarely taught, even in private lessons. At the same time, this book strives for a broader goal—to present and preserve classical percussion from the perspective of a master who not only lived in but also influenced the golden age of Arabic music. The Stages Of Grace from the Author: Connie Ruben; Kate O'Neill. This book was written out of a desire to share with others who have loved ones with Alzheimer’s disease what I have experienced as Grace’s caregiver and friend. I wanted to capture the emotions, the expected and unexpected issues, the painful times as well as the humorous and loving moments that Grace and I have shared as a result of this disease. This is not meant to be a handbook for dealing with Alzheimer’s disease, but I hope that by sharing my feelings and experiences, readers may recognize that they are not alone on this particular journey.

Wisden On Grace from the Author: Jonathan Rice. Wisden was first published in 1864, the same year that William Gilbert Grace, then aged 16, made his debut in first-class cricket. The great man made his first appearance in the 1865 edition and two years later Wisden reported his 224 not out against Surrey at The Oval. From then on, W.G. was the main headline in each year's annual as he cast his considerable shadow over the game. Today the continuing interest in, and influence of, Grace on cricket is remarkable. Wisden on Grace records the highlights of an astonishing playing career ? W.G. remains not only one of the top ten run-scorers of all time, but also one of the top ten wicket-takers ? with notable scorecards, match reports and records. But the real treasures are to be found in the opinions and articles written about ? and sometimes by ? W.G. during his lifetime and afterwards. Whether it is first-class status for matches, the professionalism debate, or the question of throwing, the game's eternal issues are to be found here. Wisden on Grace also celebrates W.G.'s extraordinary family. The Graces remain the only family to have fielded three brothers in the same Test side for England, and all the Graces ? W.G., E.M., their tragic younger brother G.F., and W.G. Grace junior ? feature here, as do the obituaries of all the Graces (including W.G.'s mother and his wife). In the year of the centenary of W.G.'s death, Wisden's tribute to Grace gives a clear picture of the way that Grace and the game in general have been viewed over the past 150 years, and is a delight for any cricket lover.

In this, the second book of the Pop and Grace series, Pop arranges another nostalgic trip on an old train which is pulled by the same magnificent steam locomotive as before, The Prince of Iceland. Grace was eagerly awaiting Pop's promised story when they were interrupted by old Toby Brown. Although Toby told Grace a thrilling tale of how he dramatically rescued his train from certain disaster a few years ago, Grace was mortified that she had missed out on Pop's own story. But with a twinkle in his eye, Pop told her that she would not be disappointed. And she certainly wasn't! Somehow, Grace was present at the first ever meeting of the Fearless Four, and she instantly became best friends with both Emily and Eduardo.
