Jeremiah Among The Prophets from the Author: Jack R. Lundbom. This book seeks to place before beginning students and general readers a representative discussion of material contained in the biblical book of Jeremiah. It is written for those who may never look into a Jeremiah commentary or read a scholarly work on one who arguably stands as the greatest of ancient Israel's prophets. These twenty essays can be read with profit by beginning students, adults in Bible-study classes, and people anywhere who simply want an introduction to Jeremiah and the book bearing his name. Hopefully this will generate interest, not only in Jeremiah, but in all the Hebrew prophets, who are without parallel in the ancient world, and who define the office of prophet up to the present day.

Is Paul Also Among The Prophets from the Author: Jeffrey W. Aernie. Aernie examines the prophetic material in the Old Testament and its relationship with the prophetic material in Second Temple Judaism, Hellenism, and the early Christian movement. The subsequent analysis of 1 Corinthians constitutes an investigation of the effect of the Old Testament prophetic tradition on Paul's self-presentation in 1 Cor 9.15-18 and rhetorical framework in 1 Cor 14.20-25 as a methodological foundation for the exegetical analysis of 2 Corinthians. Aernie explores the influence of the Old Testament prophetic tradition on Paul's apostolic self-presentation and rhetoric in 2 Corinthians. The analysis of Paul's self-presentation examines the apostle's relationship with Moses, the Isaianic servant, and Jeremiah in order to define Paul's position with regard to the preceding prophetic tradition. Aernie analyses Paul's argument in 2 Cor 2.14-16; 4.1-6; 6.14-7.1; 12.1-10 then seeks to examine the influence of the Old Testament prophetic tradition on the formation of Paul's rhetorical framework. Aernie's intention is to provide support for the notion that the particularly prophetic nature of Paul's apostolic persona affects both his self-presentation and rhetorical agenda in 2 Corinthians.

Prophecy In The Book Of Jeremiah from the Author: Hans M. Barstad. This volume contains the proceedings of a Symposium Prophecy in the Book of Jeremiah, arranged by the Edinburgh Prophecy Network in the School of Divinity at the University of Edinburgh, 11 12 May 2007. Prophetic studies are undergoing radical changes at the moment. Whereas it was formerly believed that the historical Jeremiah was hidden under countless additions and reinterpretations, and thus changed beyond recognition, it was still assumed that it would be possible to recover the real prophet with the tools of historical critical methods. However, according to a majority of scholars today, the recovery of the historical Jeremiah is no longer possible. For this reason, the meeting in Edinburgh gathered specialists from Denmark, Finland, Germany, the Netherlands, United Kingdom and the USA, in order to find new and different approaches to the study of prophecy.
