Inside Outside from the Author: Herman Wouk. Herman Wouk's classic novel moves on from the grand themes which have won him international acclaim - war, the fate of nations, and the indomitable spirit of man - to the quest for identity, in the clash between the Inside of faith and family and the Outside of the glittery American dream. Inside, Outside sweeps through more than sixty years, from the pre-war, pre-atomic innocence of the twenties and thirties to the turbulent immediate past. Scenes of rollicking family humour and show-business comedy alternate with sudden tragedy, the spectacle of a falling President and the explosion of war. A bittersweet first love, relived after forty years, and a tense secret wartime mission between Washington and Jerusalem call forth the author's renowned storytelling gift. An intense, personal book about intimate things, Inside, Outside is a merry, poignant, sometimes ribald picture of the American Jewish experience, by a master at the peak of his powers.

Mr Inside And Mr Outside from the Author: Jack Cavanaugh. Heisman Trophy winners Glenn Davis and Felix Blanchard—renowned during their playing days at West Point as "Mr. Inside and Mr. Outside"—were the best-known college football players in the country between 1944 and 1946, and Army was the nation's top-ranked team under legendary coach Red Blaik. Acclaimed author Jack Cavanaugh takes readers through the Black Knights' three consecutive National Championship seasons, including the 1946 "Game of the Century" between Army and Notre Dame, the only college game to date to have included four Heisman Trophy winners. Cavanaugh also examines the impact the war had on Army's success—because its players were already considered to be in the military and thus deferred from active duty while students at West Point, Army featured many outstanding high school and prep school players in those years. A unique look at the changes that took place in sports and almost every aspect of American life in the wake of World War II, this book a must-read for fans of college football and military buffs in addition to Army fans.

The New Hamburg Pottery New Hamburg Ontario 1854 1916 from the Author: David Newlands. The New Hamburg Pottery was one of the twelve potteries in Waterloo County, Ontario, during the last half of the nineteenth century. The works was a family-operated business during most of its history. It was owned by members of the Boehler family until 1894 then continued under a succession of owners until 1916. The pottery depended on a local supply of inexpensive clay, lead for glaze, and on a nearby market for the earthenware containers produced at the works. The New Hamburg works was one of the last potteries in the country to close its doors and one of a very few potteries in the province to operate beyond the first decade of this century. This book provides a history of the pottery, information about the site and the excavations, and the various types of pottery produced.
